LSEG COM Library for Workspace

Overview

The LSEG COM Library for Workspace is a suite of APIs providing access to streaming real-time market data, fundamental and reference data, historical and instrument search data.  The library is designed to greatly simplify programmatic access traditionally used by the Eikon-based deprecated COM APIs.  While these APIs will greatly simplify access for the Excel-based VBA developer, the libraries can be also used in other Microsoft Office applications like Word, Access and PowerPoint.

In addition to VBA, the LSEG COM Library for Workspace can be used with C++ and .Net languages (C#, VB.Net, etc.). The API was specifically designed to enable the developer to build applications not possible with the native Microsoft Office APIs.

The LSEG COM Library for Workspace is a Desktop Data API designed to work with the LSEG Workspace desktop application. Unlike the deprecated Eikon-based COM APIs, all data services are now consolidated within a single library (DLL), provided as a single reference and featuring early-binding capabilities for improved performance and integration.

To help our community of COM-based developers, the following chart provides a guide to better understand the capabilities offered and the corresponding interfaces available within the new offering:
